Plans for the future seem to indicate that the UFC will be looking at hosting two shows in one day beginning in 2012 according to UFC President Dana White who dropped the news at the UFC 139 press conference in San Jose this week.
“When we go to Japan next year, we are going to be putting on a show at the same time in Las Vegas,” he said.
The UFC has a date of February 26th penciled in for the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. That show takes place in the early afternoon Japan time, meaning it will air live in North America in the regular 9pm ET time slot. White didn't say for sure that this would be the date it happens.
Never one to give away too much information until all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed, White grinned and replied “You'll see” when questioned on how they would handle two shows in one night from a television point of view.
Airing a main event from one location and different parts of the card from another is something that boxing and pro-wrestling have done in the past, Wrestlemania 2 for instance took place in three different locations.
White also stated that this is something the company plans on doing much more in the future.
