The talk of UFC adding official uniforms for their fighters to wear has come up again, as a new Ad Week article recently brought additional light to the subject.
The article, which features comments from UFC’s Senior Vice President of Global Marketing Partnerships, Mike Mossholder, claims that UFC is in “actively engaged in conversations” with a “premium apparel line” for an exclusive deal to outfit the promotion’s roster of 400-plus fighters.
While there weren’t many specific details listed in the report, such as who and when, it was noted that Ronda Rousey is “highly likely” to be highlighted in the uniform.
If this comes to fruition, it will be a controversial topic among the fighters, who until this point have been permitted to secure their own sponsorship deals for the attire they wear to and inside the cage.
UFC, on the other hand, stands to benefit greatly from the deal. By comparison, the NFL is paid an estimated $1.1 billion over five years for the Nike logo to appear on the players uniforms.
