Former PRIDE veteran and current UFC contender who will meet Dennis Siver in a Featherweight bout at the UFC Berlin event this weekend, recently made some very interesting comments about performance-enhancing drug use in the old PRIDE days.
“Japanese don’t like to cheat, to begin with”, Kawajiri assured through an interpreter at a media event for UFC Berlin on Thursday. “In the PRIDE days, I’m pretty sure all the Japanese fighters were clean, and if you ask me, if somebody was doing the doping or PEDs, it probably would have been someone from outside of Japan.”
Kawajiri continued, “It’s a great thing, the UFC put on this strict policy, because Japanese fighters have been struggling for years against these guys doing PEDs. So right now, this whole new environment will help Japanese fighters to do well.”
The former PRIDE veteran and current UFC contender concluded, “It creates more opportunities for Japanese fighters.”
