White On Weidman Vs. Silva 2: There’s No Way We Don’t Do This Rematch

Dana White is officially on a mission to lock up a date for Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva to step back in the Octagon.

When Weidman shocked the world by knocking the long time reigning UFC Middleweight Champion, fans and media alike lit up social networks calling for a rematch. Silva initially didn’t seem interested in the rematch but seems to have warmed to the idea and White tells NBC Sports that he is going to talk to Silva this week to get the wheels in motion:

“I’m flying to LA next week to go talk to [Silva]…Yes I do [expect the rematch]. Anderson Silva is going to get knocked out again by reality in a few days, and he is going to want to do this fight again… Actually, I am looking to do the rematch THIS year… It could be [UFC 168]. There is going to be a rematch. There is no way we don’t do this rematch.”.

When and where the rematch happens has had a number of different possibilities. Cowboy Stadium in Dallas, TX has been mentioned and with a seating capacity of 150,000, it would mark the biggest UFC event ever.

Stay tuned because the Weidman vs. Silva 2 talk is heating up

the fight should be on weidmans terms since he is the champ , we shouldn’t have to wait 6-9 months for this fight because Anderson only wants to fight once a year. he isn’t the champ anymore. he don’t get to call the shots.

and pay Weidman more than silva since he is the champ

He would be wise to wait as long as he can because he loses that belt in the rematch or against Belfort.

it isn’t like this fight was a split decision or controversial. why is he getting an immediate rematch? cain didn’t get an immediate rematch with jds (just a small example as i realize silva was champ for so long). i just think it’s time to let this division move along. let silva work his way back up. if he impressively beats two good fighters then put him in the title fight. all these immediate rematches and stifling the divisions is getting old. i just don’t care to watch any boring fights where silva dances around, clowning about, and being disrespectful of other fighters. weidman knocked him out!

I told everyone Weidman would win. They didn’t believe me. Weidman will win again. Bank on it. Anderson finally had to fight a well-rounded fighter who wasn’t hand picked for him like most of his fights in the UFC.

I hope silva gets his ass whooped again. He’s lost all my respect.

We brazilians have been very proud of our ufc fighters, but Silva’s last fight was a turning point. He disrespected the other fighter, and made us think of the possibility that everything was set up to end like that, a forged fight. The money he could profit if he lost the fight, and also the whole ufc business. Now with a rematch the world would be eager to watch, and then more money to the pockets of Dana and the
fertitia brothers with this rematch. Maybe Silva losing the fight was just a game of interests. UFC fights after this have lost their credibility for sure. We brazilians thing like that.
