Maximum Fighting Championship presents Tito Ortiz seminar this Saturday

EDMONTON, AB — The Maximum Fighting Championship proudly presents the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” in the City of Champions.

This Saturday, November 10, one of the original icons of mixed martial arts and former UFC champion Tito Ortiz will be coaching a seminar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Enoch Ballroom at the River Cree Resort and Casino. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for MMA athletes of all ages as they will receive hands-on, close-encounter guidance from one of the sport’s most colourful and accomplished fighters.

Ortiz is widely regarded as the UFC’s first big-name champion and he continues to be one of the sport’s most popular fighters. He remains one of the mixed martial arts’ biggest draws in terms of both live audience events and pay-per-views buys.

Ortiz’s career in the UFC Octagon has featured fights against some of the biggest names in the sport including Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Wanderlei Silva and Forrest Griffin.

However, Ortiz is best known for his memorable three-fight series against MMA legend Ken Shamrock. Ortiz won all three fights but the matchups were some of the most-hyped and most-anticipated battles in UFC history. Their final fight against each other was the main event of the UFC Ultimate Fight Night card in Hollywood, Florida, that also marked the UFC debut of Alberta’s own Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald.

Ortiz’s popularity has propelled him into numerous other ventures which include a role in the upcoming reality TV show The Apprentice: Celebrity Edition. The show, led by business tycoon Don Trump, begins in January.

The Tito Ortiz seminar will be followed at 5 p.m. by the MFC’s 3rd Celebrity Poker Tournament. Among the celebrities playing are Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald, MFC fighter Ryan “The Kid” McGillivray, Ethan Moreau of the Edmonton Oilers who won the 1st Celebrity Poker Tournament, MFC fighter and Edmonton Eskimos standout Adam Braidwood, and a number of other sports and media personalities.

Both the Tito Ortiz seminar and the Celebrity Poker Tournament are warm-up events for the Maximum Fighting Championship’s MFC 14: High Rollers which will take place Friday, November 23 at the River Cree Resort and Casino. The fight card featuring UFC veteran Shonie Carter in the main event against Alberta’s own Brad Zazulak is officially sold out — the seventh MFC show in a row to reach sellout status.
