World Collide: Closest TO Legal Amateur MMA In FL Allowed

World Collide: Closest Thing To Legal Amateur MMA in FL Allowed

Sid Needelman Reporting…

Coming to the War Memorial on December 8, 2007 is Warrior’s Collide 3, not to be confused with another event the week later also called “World Collide” also in Florida.

Left Hook Productions is putting on their third amateur kickboxing and grappling event, which need be kept separate because as of now, amateur MMA is illegal in Florida.

Tickets are available at the War Memorial box office and ticketmaster, and they are inexpensive with prices start at just $20. The doors open at 5:30 and the show starts at 6:30, yes that’s 6:30 not the usual late start most events run into. Proceeds from this show will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.

At the last event, WC2,they had thirteen matches including a very controversial ISKA title fight. Team Inferno had the co-main event with David Okenko bringing the bang to Hammer Gym fighter Frank Pacella.

WC3 will bring in over ten different camps to compete: American Top Team- Fort Lauderdale- Coconut Creek & Deerfield Beach, Kokopelli’s Gym, Griffenrawl, FFA, ATT Wolfpack, American TKA, Bear’s Den, USA Black Belt Champion’s, US 1 Fitness, Master Shark, Jyoshinkan and Hammer Gym will be represented on this card. Many of these guys and gals work with some amazing coaches. Tara Moore 3-0, who will be up against Tricia Cicero (debut), is a student under Dan Rawlings a USKBA middleweight Muay Thai World Champion. In Trisha’s corner is Kyoshi Steve LaVallee and Shihan Moti Horenstein. Shihan is a USKBA Muay Thai Champion and was a fighter in the UFC‘s early years.

Carlos Garcia (3-1) of Freestyle Fight Academy, with Dave and Marcus Avalon coaching, is looking to get back in the win column up against newcomer Vinny Pond. Vinny spends his time training at ATT Fort Lauderdale and under the watchful eye of coach Steve Bruno at the Coconut Creek academy. Rumor has it Vinny has spent some time working with UFC fighter Thiago “Pitbull” Alves, so I will definitely be looking for him in the crowd.

Aside from the talented and professional fighters that are working the corners for the up and coming, we’ve had guests like Tim Hardaway, Michael Moorer and Bodog fighter Eben “the Big O” Oroz who just was defeated by American Top Team member, Mike Brown, planning on attending.

LHP has gained the support within the community from sponsors, and would like to thank: All Promotional Solutions, New Breed, Max Muscle, Kaizen Multimedia, Flash Power energy drinks just to name a few. The schools have been great in jumping in to the program ads as well, LaVallee’s and American Top Team Fort Lauderdale. Our after party sponsor is Zo’s Off the Hook.

The food I have been told is great and they have great drink specials, you can find more info about them on our website

Kaizen Multimedia exclusive production company and helping get the DVD for WC3 out ASAP! You can see more about them on

Left Hook Productions LLC was born out of an idea from Heather “Coop” Cooperman, a student of the martial arts in USA Black Belt Champions and who started doing some training at Hammer Gym. Larry Borden, known to Heather as a fighter, and then as an instructor and decided on putting together a show. The goal: to be the most professional amateur event ever experienced and once you come out to see we think you will be hooked, maybe even with a Left hook.
