UFC 95 took place last night from London England at the O2 Arena and following the event the winners of the UFC fight night bonuses were announced.
Submission of the night honors were awarded to BJJ whiz Demian Maia who made quick work of Chael Sonnen, dispatching him early in the first round with a perfectly executed triangle choke. Maia has now won the submission bonus in four of his five UFC appearances and has pushed his record to a perfect market of 10-0
Nobody really knew much of what to expect from Paulo Thiago prior to UFC 95, not even Josh Koscheck, but mid way through the first round everyone would get a taste when a haymaker right knocked Koscheck down and stiffened his body. Koscheck would contend it was an early stoppage but the replays indicate a good stoppage as Koscheck was down and out of it.
The main event between Diego Sanchez and Joe Stevenson was balked at by many when it was announced as the headline bout of the card but three fast paced and solid rounds of action would earn both fighters the obvious fight of the night. Sanchez would pick up the win in his lightweight debut after the bout went to the judges scorecard.
Each fighter as been awarded an additional $40,000 to go on top of there base pay from the UFC as well as any money earned outside the octagon.
