Bloodyelbow.com is reporting and MMANews.com can confirm that Bobby Lashley (1-0) will fight Ken Shamrock (27-13-2) on March 21st at Roy Jones Jr.'s “March Badness” hybrid MMA/Boxing joint that is scheduled to take place in Pensacola, FL.
Lashley's manager, Greg Bloom, confirmed the bout with MMANews.com earlier today. “We signed this afernoon.” Bloom told MMANews.com
The bout will only be Lashley's second career MMA bout after making the transition from the world of professional wrestling. In his debut bout in December of 2008, he needed only 41 seconds to dispose of Joshua Franklin via TKO.
“Bobby is looking forward to showcasing his skills against an opponent with the experience and legendary status of Ken Shamrock.” Bloom, who is also the head of the new sports management company Shambala Sports, told MMANews. “This is going to show the fans that Bobby Lashley is a serious threat to everyone in the heavyweight division.”
Shamrock, who is nearing the end of his long MMA career is just 1-5 is his last 6 fights but the one victory came most recently when he arm barred nearly 400lbs Ross Clifton on February 13th.
Although not the same fighter he was in years past, Shamrock who just turned 45, holds the skills to see where a newcomer like Lashley stands. It may not be a pretty fight but it should definetly be entertaining.
