Matt Lindland Signs Multi Fight Deal With Strikeforce

MMAMania.com:

Matt Lindland (21-6), mixed martial arts veteran and Olympic silver medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling (2000), has joined the Strikeforce middleweight division under a new three-fight contract that will likely see him debut in October 2009.

MMAmania.com confirmed the signing with Strikeforce officials earlier today.

“The Law” scored a unanimous decision win over Fabio Negao at Affliction “Banned” in July 2008. It was self-admittedly a rather disappointing fight, which eventually turned into a wrestling match.

Despite the win, he blamed his political responsibilities and other factors for the poor performance and assured fans that he would be back to his normal form his next time out.

Unfortunately Vitor Belfort had other plans, and put the aspiring politician on ice just 37 seconds into January’s “Day of Reckoning” event, also under the Affliction banner.
