Brandon Vera Says Chuck Liddell Step Down In Competition

Brandon Vera was asked during a recent Q&A session during UFC 109 weekend about whether or not he felt Chuck Liddell was a step down in competition these days?and Vera wasn't one to pull punches and gave a blunt answer:

"Yes," said Vera, "I’m not lying. I would much rather fight somebody I’m supposed to lose to."

"I’m asking for the number three spot," Vera said. "I don’t give a damn who’s at number three. I can’t ask for number one, and I can’t ask for number two. That’s Machida and ‘Shogun.’ You’ve got to climb the ladder."

Vera takes on Jon Jones at UFC on Versus 1 in March and hopefully Vera isn't taking the youngster lightly thinking about future fights. Since dropping to 205lbs, Vera has gone 3-2 with the two losses coming against top tier opponents in Randy Couture and Keith Jardine.

Quote from Sherdog
