Kimbo Slice Vs. Matt Mitrione Likely To Be Moved To 4/17 On Spike

With the signing of James "Lights Out" Toney last week by the UFC the rumor mill has continued to churn as to when and who he would be fighting. Randy Couture has been throwing his name out there as a possible opponent while some have stated that Kimbo Slice would welcome the former boxing champ to the cage. The issue with that is Slice had previously been set to face Matt Mitrione in Montreal at UFC 113. Though the latest appears to still have Slice and Mitrione fighting, only being moved to Spike TV on April 17th.

From SB Nation:

With the announcement of the UFC holding an event on April 17 and now news that the rumored Mike Swick vs. Matt Serra fight is off due to Mike Swick's injury there has been much speculation on what fights will run on the event.

Despite rumors from Carmichael Dave on The Underground that James Toney would make his MMA debut against Kimbo Slice on the event, I have heard from a solid source that the most likely option right now is to move the scheduled Kimbo Slice / Matt Mitrione fight from UFC 113 up a few weeks to the Spike TV card.

This makes the most sense if the UFC wants to compete with Strikeforce that night. Kimbo will pull the ratings whether he fights Toney or not, though likely amazingly high ratings if they did Kimbo Vs. Toney on Spike TV, but Toney can't be coming cheap and it would make more sense financially for the UFC to have Toney debut on PPV.
