Melendez vs. Aoki Has Makings For Fight Of The Night

The April 17th Strikeforce on CBS showdown between Gilbert Melendez and possibly the best pure grappler in MMA (and known limb breaker), Shinya Aoki, has the potential on paper to contend for fight of the night. Melendez is looking for his fifth win in six fights, while Aoki is trying to win his fourth in his last five fights.

The intriguing aspect of this matchup is Aoki's known submission prowess, (his collection of his opponents arms backs this up), against Melendez's slick hands and brutual ground and pound. Which style will prevail? I think Gilbert's striking and cardio is going to make the difference in this one, giving Melendez the win.

Adding hype to the fight is the fact that all eyes are on Aoki after his recent run of questionable in ring antics, some of which got him relieved of his duties as an instructor for Paraestra Tokyo.
