Following a trio of strong shows north of the border in Montreal, the UFC has focused their global efforts in the country of Canada by opening an office in Toronto, Ontario.
The opening is fresh off the UFC's announcement that they have booked the Rogers Center in March as a tentative date for their debut show, assuming the Ontario Government sanctions the sport of MMA prior to that.
Lorenzo Fertitta spoke about the office opening at a press conference held earlier in T.O
“When we thought about what we had accomplished in the U.S. … we decided we had a product we really wanted to take global. Obviously things have gone well for us in the U.K. and Europe. As we sit here today, our focus is now Canada.”
Former CFL Commissioner and Adidas Canada President Tom Wright will take the helm of the new headquarters and it is expected to employ 12-15 people, similar to the office currently in the United Kingdom.
