According to multiple reports, rising lightweight prospect Mike Lullo will make his UFC debut this coming Saturday night, as he is reported to be filling in on short notice at UFC 123 in a preliminary bout against fellow octagon-newcomer Edson Mendes Barboza Jr.
Lullo (8-1) will be filling in for the originally scheduled Darren Elkins, who was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury.
Lullo will have a tough task in taking on the highly-touted Barboza (6-0), who die-hard MMA fans are already comparing to potentially the second-coming of pound-for-pound great and WEC champion Jose Aldo Jr.
Barboza-Lullo will take place on the non-televised preliminary card at UFC 123, which is scheduled for this Saturday, November 20, at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, Michigan.
UFC 123 will feature a nice double-header as former UFC light heavyweight champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida will both attempt a comeback after suffering tough losses in each of their last octagon-appearances. Co-main eventing the pay-per view card will be a rubber-match between a pair of former UFC welterweight champions (and one former UFC lightweight champion) B.J. Penn and Matt Hughes.
