Fedor Emelianenko Will Follow Suspension, Not Competing In Sambo

Despite reports that he would be competing in a Russian Combat Sambo this week in Russia, it now appears Fedor Emelianenko's camp has had a change of heart and will abide by the 90 day medical suspension handed down by the New Jersey Athletic commission.

M-1 director of operations Evengi Kogan spoke with ESPN and cleared up the rumors:

“Fedor is observing the [NJACB's] 90-day suspension, and will not compete at the Russian Combat Sambo champs over the weekend.”

Had the Russian competed and went against the suspension it could have had a serious effect on his chances of re-entering the Strikeforce GP if need or fighting in the USA at all.
