Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (7-1) is expected to return to the Strikeforce cage on June 18, however, his opponent has remained a mystery thus far.
Details are now emerging that indicate an opponent has finally been pinned down for the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion.
The event will take place in Dallas, Texas, and two names are now in the mix as potential foes for the dangerous wrestler. Both Ovince St. Preux (10-4) and Roger Gracie (4-0) are the leading candidates to challenge Lawal in Dallas.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker addressed the issue Wednesday, telling MMAWeekly.com, “Roger Gracie would be a potential opponent, maybe OSP.”
Both proposed opponents are riding successful win streaks (St. Preux is riding a 7 fight win streak, while Gracie sports a blemish-free 4-0 record). Lawal is looking to rebound from the first loss of his career, which he suffered last August while attempting to defend his light heavyweight title against Rafael Cavalcate.
