As part of a hefty bonus scale due to the size and importance of the UFC's first trip to Toronto, Ontario, Canada for last night's UFC 129 “St-Pierre vs. Shields” event, four fighters walked away with an astounding $129,000 (get it? UFC 129!) in post-fight bonus awards.
UFC president Dana White announced at the UFC 129 post-fight press conference that the first ever UFC featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and durable hometown challenger Mark Hominick would result in “Fight Of The Night” honors, as both Aldo and Hominick took home $129,000 in bonuses.
Also taking home a big $129,000 paycheck was Lyoto Machida, who earned “Knockout Of The Night” for his awe-inspiring, Steven Seagal-taught jumping front kick KO of the now retired legendary octagon warrior Randy Couture.
Finally, earning “Submission Of The Night” honors, it comes as no surprise that live event opening preliminary bout winner Pablo Garza is now $129,000 richer, as his flying triangle choke was easily the best of the two submission finishes at the UFC 129 show.
