Dos Santos Dominates Carwin

Junior Dos Santos is still next in line for the UFC heavyweight title shot against undefeated champion Cain Velasquez, as he made easy work of former UFC interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin in the main event of UFC 131 on Saturday night.

Dos Santos got the job done with his superior boxing skills en route to an easy, three-round unanimous decision victory in Vancouver, BC, Canada's “Rogers Arena.”

Florian Makes 145 lb. Debut, Tops Nunes

Another title shot was likely cemented on Saturday night, as former two-time UFC lightweight title contender Kenny Florian came out on top in his first bid in the UFC's new featherweight division, edging out a close decision victory over the durable Diego Nunes in the co-main event of the evening.

Florian used superior wrestling and basically out-powered Nunes to pick up a close decision victory, which saw two judges score the contest 29-28, likely due to Florian suffering two knockdowns (in the first and the third round) at the hands of Nunes. The third judge, which scored the fight 30-27 for Florian, was clearly smoking the illegal drug known as crack prior to his judging assignment in Vancouver on Saturday night.

Stout Brutally KOs Edwards

Other notable performances at UFC 131 include a vicious knockout of the night victory by Sam “Hands Of Stone” Stout, as he brutalized the master of “Thug-Jitsu”, Yves Edwards, in the first round of their televised preliminary bout.

Munoz Edges Out Maia

Mark Munoz looked impressive as he picked up a hard-fought decision victory over former UFC middleweight title contender Demian Maia.

Weidman Submits Bongfeldt

Chris Weidman earned submission of the night honors with a beautiful, first-round guillotine choke. Weidman ended his bout with Jesse Bongfeldt in the first round, tapping out Bongfeldt with a guillotine choke with just six seconds remaining in the opening round.

Pee-Wee Herman Beats Einemo In Thriller

In what was arguably the fight of the night, UFC heavyweight newcomers Dave “Pee-Wee” Herman and Jon Olav Einemo put on an exciting showcase in their eight minutes-and-change inside the octagon. Herman and Einemo put on a back-and-forth performance, which lit the Vancouver crowd in fire, before Herman managed to secure a TKO finish at the 3:19 mark of the second round.
