“Sudden Death” Added To UFC Flyweight Tournament

In what comes as a surprise to many, the UFC will be implementing the use of a “sudden death” round, if necessary, during their inaugural flyweight tournament, which gets underway at UFC on FX 2 March 3rd.

The extra round will of course come into play only in the scenario that one of the two tournament bouts ends in a three round draw.

Four fighters are set to compete in the first round of the mini-tournament which will decide who will take home the flyweight title. Joseph Benavidez (15-2) is tapped to face Yasuhiro Urushitani (19-4-6), while the second bout will feature the unbelievably fast Demetrious Johnson (14-2) colliding with the man many feel is the number one flyweight on the planet, Ian McCall (11-2).
