Watson Destroys Marshman, Retains Title At BAMMA 9

MMANEWS.COM Staff Writer

The rugged Tom Watson (15-4) retained his British Association of Mixed Martial Arts middleweight title this weekend, as he soundly out-dueled previously unbeaten challenger, Jack Marshman (10-1).

The majority of the bout took place in the vertical position, where “Kong” was just too seasoned for his younger foe. A diversified striking attack slowly took its toll on Marshman. After a successful first round for the champion, it was rinse and repeat in the second frame. As the 10 minute mark approached, Watson unleashed a gnarly spinning elbow that had Marshman in serious danger. Smelling blood, Watson pounced, pummeling away with brutal punches and elbows until referee Marc Goddard had seen enough; waving the contest off with just 10 seconds remaining in the second round.

Watson now rides a three fight win streak that includes a knockout over Murilo “Ninja” Rua, and if ever there was a case to sign the durable veteran to a multi-fight contract with Zuffa, it was made this weekend.
