The UFC had hoped to sign a mega fight between champions after Georges St. Pierre returned to action last month, defeating Carlos Condit to retain the UFC Welterweight and in the eyes of Dana White, kick start the build to an Anderson Silva showdown.
Things didn't really go as planned when St. Pierre showed reluctance in fighting the bigger Silva but that doesn't mean St. Pierre doesn't want another top name across from him in his next outing.
Ariel Helwani spoke with UFC President Dana White earlier today and tweeted that St. Pierre has requested a bout against Nick Diaz next and since GSP rarely asks for anything, that is the fight they will likely make.
White hasn't spoke to the Diaz camp at this point but this bout looks to be the next big fight in the welterweight division.
