Bellator 123 Results: Pitbull Wins Title, Lashley, King Mo Pick Up Wins

Bellator 123: “Curran vs. Pitbull II” takes place live from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut tonight, with a four-fight main card that includes several recognizable names.

The preliminary portion of the event, which features an eight-fight lineup that will air live on, will be covered in quick-match fashion here at beginning at 6pm EST.

For the main card, which features a five-fight lineup, will be providing detailed, round-by-round results coverage starting at 8pm EST.

Cheick Kongo vs. Lavar Johnson

Round 1: Johnson presses the action to Kongo as soon as the bell rings. Kongo circles out but moments later, Johnson stuns Kongo with a big punch. Johnson continues to press the action, however Kongo takes him down after Johnson missed a big haymaker punch attempt. Kongo has Johnson trapped against the cage and is on top of him in full mount. Kongo looks for a keylock, but quickly gives it up. The crowd is boo’ing now as the action slows down here in round one. We’re half-way through the opening frame now and Kongo remains on top in full mount, touching Johnson with shots to the body, trying to open up more opportunities. Kongo misses with a big elbow, but Johnson gives him his back trying to avoid it and Kongo locks in the rear-naked-choke. Johnson immediately taps out.

Bobby Lashley vs. Josh Burns

Round 1: The pre-fight videos just finished airing now and both guys are making their way to the cage. They are acknowledging that Bobby Lashley is the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. They just finished the official ring introductions. Here we go with round one. Lashley comes in with a big overhand right that just misses the mark. Lashley shoots in for a single-leg but Burns defends. Lashley clinches with Burns in the center of the cage and sweeps his legs out from under him. Lashley scores the takedown and is now working from inside Burns’ half-guard. Lashley passes to side control with ease and is looking for a keylock. Lashley looks like he has it but Burns isn’t tapping. Lashley needs to pull it closer to his body, but Burns is defending well. Lashley lets it go. Lashley grabs a hold of Burns’ arm and is looking for a keylock once again. Burns gives the referee a thumbs up to let him know he’s okay. Lashley lets it go again. Burns is cut near his right eye and the blood is starting to flow. Lashley opened Burns up with a sharp elbow from top position. Lashley keeps looking to secure the keylock but he hasn’t been able to get it tight and close enough to finish it. 90 seconds remains and Lashley is landing some short elbows that are opening up the cut near Burns’ right eye. Now Lashley is looking for a kimura on the same arm of Burns that he was working the keylock on. He lets that go as well. Lashley keeps messing around with the arm of Burns, but doesn’t seem to know how to secure it properly to get the submission. The round ends with Lashley on top. Dominant round one for Lashley. scores the round 10-9 for Bobby Lashley.

Round 2: The second round begins with each guy winging wild punches, with Lashley nearly eating a big right hand from Burns. Lashley avoids it however, and is staying calm and pawing with his right jab from the southpaw position. Lashley lands a nice right jab. Lashley goes for a single leg but switches to an ankle-pick which gets Burns down to the mat. Lashley immediately advances to side control. Lashley thinks about a north-south choke briefly but instead passes to full mount. Lashley is working some light ground and pound as the blood starts to flow from Burns’ eye. Burns’ eye is actually bleeding pretty bad in this round. Lashley looks for another arm-submission attempt but doesn’t get it and loses side-control position. Burns has Lashley in his half-guard now but Lashley quickly passes back to side-control. Lashley ends up getting the back of Burns and immediately locks in the rear-naked-choke. Burns stands up while stuck in the choke position and ends up tapping out while standing. Lashley picks up the submission win via rear-naked-choke in the second round.
