Rory MacDonald Says GSP Will Not Fight Him If He Is UFC Welterweight Champion

Following his victory over Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Fight Night 54 in Halifax last weekend, top-ranked UFC Welterweight contender Rory MacDonald has been promised a title shot by UFC President Dana White.

Furthermore, MacDonald will get the home field advantage in his title bout, as White confirmed that the winner of the Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler rematch at UFC 181 in December will be fighting him in his home country of Canada.

If MacDonald wins the Welterweight Championship, he continues to insist that he will not fight Georges St-Pierre, regardless of if he’s champion or not.

The number two ranked Welterweight contender told FOX Sports recently that not only will he not fight GSP, he’s tired of being asked about it.

Below is what MacDonald had to say:

“It’s unnecessary. We’ve answered it so many times and it’s not going to change. I assume so (GSP wants to return). It doesn’t mean he has to fight for the championship. He would respect my position if I was holding the belt.

I don’t mind about the questions being compared to him or not. I don’t like the questions about fighting. I find that somewhat stressful and an unnecessary pressure that I constantly have to answer.”
