Video: Floyd Mayweather Takes Shots At Randy Couture, MMA In General

Showtime’s “ALL ACCESS: Mayweather vs. Berto | Episode 2” featured a number of references to the sport of mixed-martial-arts, although pretty much all of them would be classified as “negative,” particularly if you happen to be UFC Hall Of Famer Randy Couture.

In the second of a multiple-part series, similar to HBO’s 24/7 documentary-style mini-series, Showtime continued the build toward their Mayweather vs. Berto pay-per-view event on September 12, a show being promoted as “Money” Mayweather’s final professional boxing contest, and during the special, a few shots were taken directly at the sport of MMA.

“If you’re an MMA fighter, your nose bleeds more than anybody else,” said Mayweather, who was poking fun at a member of his security entourage who suffered a busted nose during a private sparring match on episode one of “ALL ACCESS: Mayweather vs. Berto.”

After doing his best re-enactment of his security member’s reaction to his nose getting busted during his sparring session on last week’s preview show, the security member insisted that he was up for a rematch, noting that he’s a fighter not a boxer, and pointing out his willingness to do another match in a ring or a cage.

It was at this point, that several friends and other members of Mayweather’s entourage, who were in attendance, dropped the infamous letters of “U-F-C,” and again spoke about an MMA cage. The security member then proceeded to request that they all go down to Randy Couture’s Gym, prompting the egotistical Mayweather to respond, “Is Randy Couture undefeated?” The security guard was honest, pointing out that Couture was not undefeated, which left Mayweather, an undefeated fighter who will constantly remind you of his unblemished record, to laugh and say, “Then, we can’t go to his gym!”

You can check out the exchange between Mayweather and the MMA security guard member where Randy Couture and the sport of MMA is the subject of ridicule, at the 4:15 mark of the video embedded above.

Of course after this episode, it is becoming more and more apparent that while Mayweather might not be an MMA fan, he certainly hears enough about the sport that he should absolutely know who fighters like Ronda Rousey are, especially when they blatantly rip him on live television, such as Rousey did to Mayweather at the ESPY Awards on ESPN, a situation that led to even more vicious, back-and-forth exchanges between Rousey and Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, airing live and exclusively on pay-per-view.
