Video: Fedor Emelianenko Admits He’s Closer Than Ever Before To Signing With UFC

Although he has a fight signed for this weekend in St. Petersburg, Russia, it looks like MMA fans might finally see the legendary Fedor Emelianenko inside the Octagon in the near future.

MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko appeared on Ariel Helwani’s “The MMA Hour” on Monday to promote his fight against Fabio Maldonado, which serves as the main event for Fight Nights 50 this weekend, airing live on UFC Fight Pass and spoke about the possibility of signing with the UFC.

“Let me put it this way, on June 18th, I’m open for negotiations with all promotions,” Fedor said through a translator.

According to Fedor, he has received an offer from the UFC, however he is still working over some of the “finer points” in the contract before he makes things official.

Additionally, Fedor made it clear that he is no longer associated with M-1’s Vadim Finkelstein, who UFC President Dana White dubbed, “Va-Dummy,” because he felt he was the reason Fedor never came to an agreement with UFC in the past.

When asked if he was closer than ever before to signing with the UFC, Fedor Emelianenko answered through a translator, “The short answer is ‘Yes.'”

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabio Maldonado headlines Fight Nights 50 this Friday, June 17, 2016 from St. Petersburg, Russia.
