Miocic Retains Title In His Hometown With KO Of Overeem At UFC 203

After a rough start, Cleveland’s own Stipe Miocic retained the UFC Heavyweight Championship with a first-round knockout of dangerous striker Alistair Overeem at UFC 203 on Saturday night.

Miocic was dropped by a big punch from the former K-1 Champion early into the first round of their headline bout. Overeem looked to secure a guillotine choke, but Miocic survived. After some exchanges on the feet, Miocic managed to get Overeem to the mat, where he pounded him out with vicious ground and pound for the first round stoppage.

Featured above is video footage of Miocic having some fun with his fellow hometown fans and friends at the Quicken Loans Arena, the sight of Saturday’s UFC 203 PPV in Cleveland, Ohio. Below is some of UFC’s social media coverage of the fight.
