Heavyweights Alistair Overeem, Francis Ngannou to Collide at UFC 218

Two big boys of the UFC‘s heavyweight division are headed to Motor City, as Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou meet at UFC 218.

Overeem (43-15) has scored back-to-back victories to position himself on a short list of contenders to Stipe Miocic’s title. That includes a July majority decision over Fabricio Werdum.

The only loss for Overeem since 2014 came to Miocic last year. He is 6-1 during that time.

Ngannou (10-1) is unbeaten over five UFC fights, highlighted by a January finish vs. former champion Andrei Arlovski. He’s also submitted Anthony Hamilton and stopped Bojan Mihjlovic, Curtis Blaydes and Luis Henrique.

“I’m definitely going to beat Overeem before Stipe,” Ngannou posted on Twitter. “But doesn’t matter it’s just one more fight.”

UFC 218 takes place December 2 from Detroit. No main event has been announced for the card. Previously announced fights include Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje, Felice Herrig vs. Cortney Casey, Angela Magana vs. Amanda Cooper and Dominick Reyes vs. Jeremy Kimball.
