Bellator 207 Results: Bader Dominates Mitrione

Tonight (Fri. October 12, 2018) Bellator MMA hosts Bellator 207 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion has compiled a great card for fight fans to enjoy.

In the main event of the evening, the semi-finals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix will get underway. Bellator light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader will take on Matt Mitrione. Also, in the co-main event, longtime MMA veteran Roy Nelson meets Sergei Kharitonov in what’s sure to be a heavy-hitting affair.

Welterweight standout Lorenz Larkin returns to the cage to take on Ion Pascu. The main card also features the return of Kevin Ferguson Jr., who seeks to pick up the fourth win of his MMA career against Corey Browning. Main Card:

  • Heavyweight: Matt Mitrione vs. Ryan Bader
  • Round 1:
    Bader immediately in on a takedown at gets it. Mitrione is sat against the cage for now. Mitrione is able to get back to his feet, however, Bader gets things right back down to the mat. Bader gets half guard and gets in some good shots. Mitrione again gets to his feet, but he’s taken down by Bader again.

    More shots from Bader, and Mitrione is again working to get to his feet. He fails and Bader gets him back to the mat again. Bader is landing some hellacious ground-and-pound now. Mitrione gets to his feet and Bader unleashes a barrage of shots to end the round.

    Round 2:
    Mitrione comes out swinging but after an overextension, Bader gets him down again. Bader gets half guard and attacks a kimura, but Mitrione fights out of it. Again Bader attacks the kimura, but this time from side control. Mitrione is again able to escape.

    Side back control for Bader now, who takes Mitrione down against the cage as he sits on the canvas. Mitrione again can’t get to his feet, Bader with another takedown. Again Mitrione to his feet, and with seconds left he escapes Bader’s clutches to end the round.

    Round 3:
    Mitrione isn’t able to get off a single shot before Bader shoots in for the takedown, and gets it. Mitrione makes a great effort to get up, but Bader ultimately gets him back down. It doesn’t look like this bout will see much of any time on the feet.

    Some ground-and-pound for Bader now. The crowd is booing terribly, they are not enjoying this fight. Bader maintains dominant position as time expires.
