Opening up the UFC 230 main card this past weekend (Sat. November 3, 2018), a middleweight title contender emerged. Israel Adesanya had his coming out party with a knockout victory over Derek Brunson. The Nigerian remains undefeated in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career with the finish over “The One.”
He has proven to be one of the better strikers in the UFC. However, with Brunson suffering yet another loss, he’s now on a two-fight losing skid. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza defeated Brunson in his last outing. Brunson was also finished in that fight, being knocked out by a head-kick from the Brazilian. Soon after the loss, Brunson took to Twitter to comment on his defeat to Adesanya:
“In life you have two options . Sit around feeling sorry for yourself or get up and do something about it . Life’s journey! MOVING FORWARD”

As for Adesanya, he believes that Brunson might have panicked a bit against him inside the Octagon, leading to his eventual demise. The Nigerian now seeks a big name fight en-route to an eventual title opportunity should things play in his favor.
Brunson’s overall record now sits at 18-7. If he wants to make a run at the 185-pound strap, with the likes of Adesanya and Jared Cannonier on the rise, he’ll have to string together a nice little win streak.
