Rafael dos Anjos feels he’ll be back in title contention with a victory over Kamaru Usman.
The welterweight tilt between dos Anjos and Usman will take place this Friday night (Nov. 30) in the main event of TUF 28 Finale. Back in June, dos Anjos took on Colby Covington for the interim UFC welterweight title. Covington won that bout via unanimous decision. While dos Anjos wasn’t exactly outclassed, he had trouble dealing with Covington’s pressure.
RDA Wants Back In Title Contention With A Win Over Usman
As a former UFC lightweight champion, dos Anjos knows what it’s like to hold gold. He wants that feeling again and he told MMAJunkie.com that Usman gets him closer to his goal:
“I think so. I’m focused 100 percent on Friday now, but I think it would be a huge step back toward the title. I don’t see any other names in there. We’ll see. I’m excited for Friday and I can’t wait to get it done. I’m ready for all situations. A lot of people asked me, ‘Hey man, coming off a loss to a wrestler, you’re going to fight another wrestler? Tough guy? Shouldn’t you take an easier fight?’ I never took an easy fight. If you look at my career since Day One in the UFC, I never choose opponents. I think he’s the guy to put me back in the title picture. I know he’s a tough guy, but I know I have what it takes to bring it home.”
