Newly released bodycam footage shows more of former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier’s June arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, including continued confrontational comments after he was handcuffed.
Poirier was arrested on June 21, 2026, and charged with misdemeanor public drunkenness after an altercation that began with a gate agent and escalated when Atlanta police intervened. Earlier video from the scene showed Poirier attempting to square up with a responding officer and challenging him to fight before he was taken into custody.
The newly circulated bodycam clip extends past that initial confrontation. In the additional footage, Poirier is heard again asking officers to take the cuffs off and fight him one-on-one. Reporting around the release also notes that he referenced prior jail time during the arrest and made other provocative remarks toward officers while being transported.
After the first wave of arrest video became public over the summer, Poirier addressed the incident on Instagram, saying time away from MMA had been difficult and that alcohol had damaged his father’s life, adding that he would not let it ruin his own. Multiple reports since then have said he apologized and indicated he was seeking help for alcohol issues.
Poirier, one of the most accomplished lightweights of his generation and a former interim UFC titleholder, has been out of competition since his recent retirement stretch. The new footage does not change the reported charge from June, but it adds a fuller record of how the airport arrest unfolded after the initial confrontation.
