Charles Oliveira Pushes UFC For Justin Gaethje Title Fight

Charles Oliveira is taking his pursuit of a lightweight title fight straight into the UFC’s social feeds, flooding the promotion’s UFC 329 comment sections with calls to book him against Justin Gaethje.

The former undisputed champion has traded the polished sit-down interview for a grassroots comment-section campaign, a scrappier tactic than the public demands he issued earlier this year.

Oliveira’s ask is not new. He has openly pushed for the Gaethje matchup and called it a fight fans want, so the shift here is the method rather than the message. Instead of waiting on a booking, he is trying to keep the pairing in front of the promotion and the fanbase by parking himself under UFC 329 posts.

The history between the two adds weight to the request. Oliveira submitted Gaethje at UFC 274 in a lightweight title bout, though he had already been stripped of the belt after missing weight, so the win never came with the championship attached. A rematch would give both men unfinished business to settle.

Where Oliveira Stands Now

Oliveira (37-11) is a former undisputed UFC lightweight champion and currently holds the BMF title. He captured that belt on March 7, 2026, at UFC 326: Holloway vs. Oliveira 2, sweeping Max Holloway on the scorecards (50-45, 50-45, 50-45) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Brazilian, a fourth-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, remains one of the division’s elite operators. He sits at No. 15 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings and near the top of the lightweight ladder, and he owns the record for the most finishes in UFC history with 21.

His recent run has not been without setbacks. Oliveira lost his shot at the undisputed lightweight title when Ilia Topuria stopped him in the first round at UFC 317 on June 28, 2025, a defeat that kept him from reclaiming divisional gold. Since then he has rebuilt his case with the Holloway win and the BMF crown.
