Popular rapper Drake has lost another seven figures on a Conor McGregor UFC bet. This time, he watched a wager tied to the main event at UFC 329 in Las Vegas collapse when McGregor’s comeback ended in disaster.
The Grammy-winning rapper dropped $1 million after McGregor’s leg gave out just 69 seconds into his bout against Max Holloway, extending the rapper’s well-documented history of massive UFC losses.
According to Stake.com, Drake stood to collect just under $3 million had McGregor come away with a victory. Instead, the Irishman appeared to be carrying an injury into the cage and gestured toward referee Mike Beltran to wave off the fight barely a minute in.
Drake has become known for the so-called “Drake Curse,” a pattern in which athletes and teams he publicly backs go on to lose. Some have managed to overcome it, but few backfired as brutally as this one in Las Vegas.
Another Seven-Figure UFC Loss For Drake
Fans who paid thousands to attend the event got just over a minute of action before McGregor’s night was over. Nobody in the building felt the outcome quite like Drake, who saw a potential seven-figure payday vanish in real time.
This is far from the first time a Drake UFC wager has gone sideways. The rapper previously lost $275,000 on a bet during a Jorge Masvidal fight at UFC 272, a defeat that Masvidal and Colby Covington were happy to comment on afterward.
The UFC 329 result also cost more than just the rapper. Jake Paul, who placed his own bet on McGregor, had stood to make an even larger sum after building a parlay that included Paddy Pimblett, who did pick up a win on the card.
Drake’s growing involvement in combat sports goes beyond the sportsbook, too, with the rapper recently moving into the influencer fight business through part ownership of a promotion. For now, though, the headline is another costly night at the books tied to McGregor.
