Joe Rogan Defends MVP’s Style After UFC Exit

Joe Rogan loves watching Michael “Venom” Page, but he understands why the UFC let him go.

Page’s UFC run ended in September after a decision win over Nursulton Ruziboev in Paris. It was the last fight on his contract. The UFC removed him from its rankings the next day, and reports since have said he was released. He landed just 12 significant strikes over 15 minutes in that fight.

On the JRE MMA Show, Rogan said Page belongs at a different weight.

I think MVP should be a welterweight, first of all. At welterweight, he’s almost unstoppable… I don’t think the power translates as well at ’85.

Rogan called him one of his favorite fighters and defended his style.

His fight with Kevin Holland, people can talk all the s— about ‘it was a boring fight’ and ‘nothing happened,’ but when you’ve got a guy as good as Kevin Holland and he’s just completely frustrated… and this guy’s just dancing in front of him, it’s nuts to watch.

He also pointed to Page’s age.

See, the reality is if you’re a natural athlete and you’re 39 years old, it’s almost over, unless you’re a heavyweight… All the injuries, all the training, you can’t move as well anymore.

I wish nothing but the best for MVP. I love that guy, I think he’s awesome. He’s had some boring fights though, unfortunately.

Page went 5-1 in the UFC. His only loss came against Ian Machado Garry in June 2024.

Page has not shared his next move. A planned Real American Freestyle debut was recently canceled, with Brendan Allen replacing him to wrestle Alexander Shlemenko at RAF 14.
