Sean O’Malley Scores Walk-Off Salute KO Of Aiemann Zahabi

ByThomas AlbanoMixed Martial Arts Journalist

“The Suga Show” wants his bantamweight title back, making the statement with a finish of Aiemann Zahabi at the UFC Freedom 250 card at the White House.

Though the first round was fairly quiet, O’Malley was the pressuring fighter, emphasizing with a flurry in the round’s closing seconds. Zahabi stayed back to read his opponent, looking to move around and be selective with shots.

But in the second, O’Malley started to turn things up, finding his groove. And it all came together quickly when he stumbled Zahabi with a left hand. A couple of right hands later, and O’Malley scored the knockout he had been looking for — a walk-off one at that.

O’Malley entered this fight off a win over Song Yadong at UFC 324. He’s now won back-to-back fights since losing the bantamweight title to Merab Dvalishvili and losing a rematch.

Zahabi sees a seven-fight win streak snapped tonight. He entered this bout off a win over Marlon “Chito” Vera at UFC Vancouver in October.
