UFC Vegas 124 In Chaos As Sean Brady Withdraws From Headliner

UFC Vegas 124 loses its main event as Sean Brady withdraws due to injury, leaving Gabriel Bonfim without an opponent for the November 7 Fight Night card.

UFC Vegas 124 has suffered a major setback just days before its scheduled date, with Sean Brady reportedly forced to withdraw from the main event against Gabriel Bonfim due to an injury.

The welterweight matchup was set to headline the November 7 Fight Night card at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The withdrawal leaves Bonfim without an opponent, while the UFC faces a decision over whether to find a replacement or restructure the event’s headlining lineup.

Brady’s withdrawal was initially reported by Brazilian journalist Laerte Viana. The nature of the 33-year-old American’s injury has not been disclosed, and the promotion has yet to issue an official announcement.

It also remains unclear whether the UFC will secure a late replacement for Bonfim or elevate another matchup to the main event. The current co-main event features a women’s strawweight contest between Tatiana Suarez and Virna Jandiroba.

Sean Brady And Gabriel Bonfim Were Chasing Momentum

Brady was looking to build on an impressive performance against Joaquin Buckley in May, when he secured a unanimous decision victory. The American welterweight entered that contest seeking to reestablish himself among the division’s leading contenders after suffering a first-round stoppage defeat to Michael Morales.

Brady holds a 19-2 professional record, including a 9-2 mark inside the UFC. He has previously headlined events against Gilbert Burns and former welterweight champion Leon Edwards, winning both contests.

Bonfim, meanwhile, was preparing for another significant opportunity after putting together a five-fight winning streak. The Brazilian holds a 20-1 record and has won seven of his eight UFC appearances.

His recent run includes a unanimous decision victory over former UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad in June. Bonfim also recorded main event wins against Randy Brown and Muhammad.

The UFC Vegas 124 lineup also includes bouts featuring Davey Grant, Elijah Smith, Wellington Turman, Andre Petroski, Billy Elekana, and Lucas Fernando, among others.
