Lando Vannata is the owner of one of the most memorable debuts in UFC history when on two weeks’ notice, Vannata gave Tony “El Cucuy” all he could handle at UFC Fight Night 91 in a battle that won Fight of the Night honors. For Vannata’s encore, he turned in Performance of the Night with a wheel kick knock out of UFC vet John Makessi at UFC 206 and then win yet another post-fight bonus in his third fight in the promotion, where he dropped a unanimous decision to David Teymur. Vannata has earned his reputation as a fan-friendly striker; but with an expired contract, Vannata is unsure whether he will be able to entertain the UFC audience again:
“Currently, right now, I’m a free agent,”” Vannata said in an appearance on MMA on Sirius XM. “That was the last fight of my contract. So I don’t know. We’ll see where the wind takes us. We’ve got a lot of talking to do, a lot of discussing to do, and negotiations, and we’ll see what happens.
Lando Vannata most recently competed this past Saturday at UFC 230 where he fought to a draw against Matt Frevola in what had to be the runner-up for Fight of the Night. The fight took place in the night’s Fight Pass Prelims.
As for the future, Vannata may be unsure about which promotion he will seek to get his groove back, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a plan.
“Yeah, I have an idea of what I want to do, but I’m gonna keep that card in my pocket for right now,” Vannata said.
Do you want the UFC to resign Lando Vannata? If not, where do you believe he would he be a good fit?
