UFC 106 Ortiz vs. Griffin 2 Preview: Betting Odds
According to the recent media buzz, the brand new and equipped with a fixed spine, Tito “Hunnington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz will beat for the second time Forrest Griffin, whom he beat by split decision three and a half years ago. Fight is on Saturday, November 21st at Mandalay Bay at 7pm ET. However, money don't lie and online bookies around the world have the Griffin favorite at -150 with Tito being at +120 on average.
In their old fight, Griffin has received some beating from Ortiz on the ground in the first round, but then he dominated the rest of the fight by landing more punches throughout.
Short skinny on the fighters: Forrest lost his last two fights but I think he is prepared mentally for this one. He has better reach; he is younger and faster than Ortiz. Ortiz hasn't fought in a year and a half, so he is rested and rusty. I don't think his back surgery improvement is all that important here and it is all just a theme picked up by the media.
Regarding how the fight will go, it is difficult to predict the outcome. Both fighters techniques are pretty similar, some might argue Ortiz is better on the ground; most forget Griffin has improved his ground game.
