Alexander Gustafsson has a violent prediction for his bout with Fabricio Werdum.
Gustafsson is set to end his retirement on July 25. He’s scheduled to make the move to heavyweight to take on former UFC champion Fabricio Werdum. While “The Mauler” lacked motivation just before announcing his retirement, he says it’s a different story as he prepares for a comeback.
Gustafsson Eager To ‘Maul’ Fabricio Werdum’s Face
Speaking to Mauler Bet, Gustafsson predicted a rough night for Werdum.
“He’s experienced and a bit of a legend in the sport when you look at his career. He’s gained some weight in recent years but he’s not to be underestimated, he’s got a lot of tricks up his sleeves and is a legit black belt. And he, like everyone else in the HW division hits hard. So it will be an awesome challenge for me and it’s very motivating for me to fight him. I will go in there with full force, fully prepared to win. This is not a game and I will go in there to maul his face, get my W and take it from there.”
Gustafsson vs. Werdum will be held on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The UFC secured the island in an effort to run fight cards with international fighters. This is set to be the UFC’s last card for the month of July. In the main event, former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker is expected to clash with Darren Till.
Also set for the July 25 event is a light heavyweight clash between former UFC title holder Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. This will be the third meeting between the two. Rua is 2-0 against Nogueira.
