Battle in the Bay 2 Results & Photos From 11/11

Ben “the Stone Man” Yelle from Marquette, MI, scored a second round TKO victory over Bruce Sessman of St. Louis, MO, to gain the vacant Gladiators Fighting Featherweight Kickboxing Championship in the main event of the “Battle in the Bay 2” before a packed house at the KI Convention Center in downtown Green Bay, WI, Saturday night.

Yelle dropped Sessman with a vicious body kick early in the second round, seen here. Although Sessman was able to beat the count, he was not able to fully recover and at 1:17 of the round the referee stopped the contest.

In the co-feature fight of the evening, John “White Trash” Freidland of Milwaukee, WI, stopped Mark Lesley of Fort Wayne, IN, with a triangle choke at 2:07 of the second round in an MMA battle of welterweights. In other MMA bouts, middleweight Tim Nixon of Marquette, MI, scored a TKO victory over Mike Servais of Green Bay, at :30 of the first round.
Heavyweight Rob Jensen of Green Bay, scored a TKO at 1:25 of the first round over Tony Taul of nearby Oneida. Here's a shot of Servais trying a takedown early in the fight.

Tre Perkins ground and pound from the mount proved to be too much for Adam Thao and Perkins scored a TKO victory at 2:36 of round two. Early on, Perkins had Thao reeling from a big punch.

Dan Skenandore of Green Bay, won a unanimous decision over fellow heavyweight Adam Van Der Veen of Milwaukee, with all three judges scoring the fight 29-28. Skenadore used effective ground and pound, seen here, to out-point his opponent.

Former Green Bay Packer “Whisper” Goodman scored a spectacular knockout (photo here) at 0:25 of the first round over fellow light-heavyweight Michael Houlton of Rapid River, Michigan. Early on “Whisper” got a nice slam on Houlton, which you can see here.

See “Whisper” celebrate his victory as Houlton remained unconscious.

In a match of super-heavyweights, 440 pound Terry Kleiman of Green Bay defeated 330 pound Ryan Rea of Kingsford, MI at 1:15 of the first round with a rear choke. Check out a photo of the finish here.

Light heavyweight Dan Pemble of Marquette, knocked out Chad Medukas of Green Bay, at 1:16 of the first round.

In the opening fight of the evening, Tom Erspamer scored a second round TKO over fellow featherweight Josh Kasee of Oneida.

In addition to the main event the evening also featured two kickboxing matches. Middleweights Barry Forst of Green Bay and Ron Duncan of Wausau went the distance with Duncan earning a somewhat controversial split decision 29-28,29-28,28-29.

Rounding out the evening was a light heavyweight kickboxing contest which saw Steve “Warman” Wright of Minneapolis, score a TKO at 2:07 of round two over Don Stachovak of Wausau.
