Wanderlei Silva is currently a free agent after being released from his UFC contract in January. Bellator MMA president Scott Coker recently told The MMA Hour that both Bellator and Rizin are interested in “The Axe Murderer.”
Silva is currently banned from competing in the state of Nevada for evading a drug test for a planned fight against Chael Sonnen in 2014. His appeal is scheduled for February. Coker says Silva needs to clear that up before he can sign with Bellator.
“He’s gonna have to clear that all up,” Coker said. “That’s gonna be part of the deal. I know that Rizin wants to sign him as well. There’s gonna be a couple of bidders out there for Wanderlei’s services.”
Silva is scheduled to attend a Bellator Fan Fest later this month.
