Michael Page: “I Need To Touch The UFC At Some Point”

Bellator star Michael Page has aspirations of fighting in the UFC one day.

Recently on the “Believe You Me” podcast with former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, Page admitted that his goal when he started off in MMA was to fight in the UFC one day and sees himself fighting in the biggest MMA promotion in the future.

“100%, if I’m being honest, when I first started, the only reason I started was to go to the UFC,” said Page. “That was the biggest thing and it’s obviously still one of the biggest shows. Obviously, there’s a lot of shows popping up, but in general, especially when I started, anybody that was getting into MMA, their goal was to get to the UFC and the majority of people are still the same.”

“Venom” went on to express that while he has enjoyed his successes in MMA and his career at Bellator, he still feels he needs to be tested at the highest level of MMA in the UFC. Page sees some exciting matchups to be had at UFC, but before he can dip his toe there, he has goals to achieve in his Bellator chapter that he still feels needs fulfilling.

“Yes, I enjoy Bellator and I enjoy where I’m at and I enjoy my success so far,” said Page. “But I definitely feel like I need to touch the UFC at some point and just test myself there as well. There are some great matches to be made over there, so I definitely think in the future, I don’t know when, obviously I’m contracted to being in Bellator and I’ve got some goals I got to achieve there as well, and I feel like I’m close to doing that. But until then, I definitely still see myself going there.”

MVP is currently #2 in the welterweight Bellator rankings and will definitely want to avenge his only loss in MMA to the current Bellator welterweight champion, Douglas Lima, when he suffered a crushing KO loss back in Bellator 221 in May 2019. He was last seen in action against Derek Anderson when he stopped the American in May. After his loss against Lima, he has put together five wins in a row and looks to get closer to a shot at the welterweight belt.

How well do you think MVP would do against the current crop of UFC welterweights?
