Bodog Fight Welterweight Champion Nick “The Goat” Thompson to Defend Title in Las Vegas

For Immediate Release

December 30, 2007

Bodog Fight Welterweight Champion Nick “The Goat” Thompson will defend his title against hard-hitting John Troyer on February 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“It's always exciting when 'The Goat' steps into the ring,” says Bodog Fight's billionaire founder Calvin Ayre.

“Nick is a larger than life character, so it's fitting that this fight will take place under the neon lights in Las Vegas.”

Bodog Fight: Nick Thompson vs. John Troyer will take place at the Las Vegas Sport Center. Doors open at 6:30p.m., fights start at 7:30p.m.

Thompson (39-8-1), who suffered a shoulder injury in November and was forced to withdraw from a scheduled bout in Indiana, says he's back to 100-percent and will be at his best for this title match with Troyer (8-0).

“From what I hear, Troyer's a tough guy,” says “The Goat”. “He is undefeated and recently beat three guys in one night to win an 8-man HOOKnSHOOT tournament, so I'm expecting a tough fight.”

Troyer, who fights out of Louisville, Kentucky, may be tough, but after knocking out the previously undefeated Eddie Alvarez to win the welterweight title belt last April at Bodog Fight: Clash of the Nations in St. Petersburg, Russia and Cage Rage veteran Mark “The Wizard” Weir four months later in Vancouver, Canada “The Goat” is supremely self-confident.

“You'd be a fool not to bet on me,” says the Minnesota native. “The fact this fight is taking place in Vegas on Super Bowl weekend just means that a lot of people are going to get to see me whoop his ass.”

“Not necessarily,” says Bodog Fight commissioner and HOOKnSHOOT founder, Jeff Osborne. “Troyer is one of those 200-pound guys who cuts down to 170 pounds, and he's a monster. He holds four different titles at middleweight, so Nick will have his hands full.”

The fantastic February 1 fight card will also feature a four-man tournament, plus the return of Bodog Fight's newest female knockout sensation, Kaitlin Young.

Young (3-0) scored three spectacular KO's November 24 at a Bodog-sponsored tournament in Indiana, with Patti Lee, Meisha Tate and Suzi Smith each tasting the canvas in the very first round.

February 1 in Las Vegas, Young will look to continue her path of destruction against an opponent worthy of her astounding skills.

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster, with prices starting at $30.00.
