Showtime pay-per-view had some problems for the highly-anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul.
On Sunday night in Miami, Mayweather the 50-0 boxer returned for an exhibition bout against YouTuber and 0-1 pro boxer in Paul. Although on paper it looked like an unmatched fight, Mayweather is 44-years-old and was over 30lbs lighter.
Ultimately, the bout went all eight rounds and in the first round, Paul did have some success. However, the big problem was the fact the PPV wasn’t working for some. They sent out a tweet saying give it 10 minutes and try again. After that, they sent out a message saying they know some people are having trouble getting the PPV.
“We are aware that some customers have been having trouble accessing tonight’s Pay Per View event on SHOWTIME.com,” Showtime officials said. “We are working diligently to resolve the issue and will redress customers appropriately.”
After the event happened, many still had complaints that they paid for the PPV but never got access. Showtime then sent out a statement saying to go to their website to find more information on requesting a refund.
“If you purchased tonight’s PPV event through http://Showtime.com or the SHOWTIME app, and could not stream the fight, please go to http://showtime.com/help for information on requesting a refund.”
Although the event was a circus to many, it still was an intriguing match and overall the card was a good one. However, it is no doubt disappointing for many fans that they couldn’t watch the fight between Mayweather and Paul.
After the bout went the distance, Mayweather said that likely was the final time he fought.
“As far as me coming back to the sport of boxing (professionally), absolutely not,” Mayweather said. “As far as me doing an exhibition again, probably not.”
