Yet another MMA fighter will be going one-on-one with a YouTuber inside the boxing ring.
Triller’s Ryan Kavanaugh has revealed that former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort will be taking on Internet celebrity Tarzann, real name Michael Holston. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani broke the news on his Twitter account.
The bout has stemmed from a gym incident between the two men. Belfort didn’t appreciate Tarzann and his cameraman filming a sparring session of his. When Tarzann said he wanted to learn how to fight, Belfort brushed him off. Tarzann proceeded to throw water at Belfort, who responded by charging at him before the video cut off.
Here’s a look at footage of the incident.
The pro boxing match will be a part of the Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos card on June 19. It’s scheduled for eight, three-minute rounds. The bout is pending approval from the Florida Boxing Commission.
Belfort hasn’t competed since May 2018. He was knocked out by Lyoto Machida. Belfort had signed with ONE Championship but never had a fight with the promotion. In fact, the two sides have parted ways.
As for Tarzann, he doesn’t have any pro boxing experience. He gained fame on YouTube due to his love for animals. He is a former zookeeper from Miami. As of this writing, he has 847K subscribers on YouTube. Tarzann has garnered over 32 million video views on his channel.
This isn’t the first time Triller has booked an MMA fighter against a YouTuber. Back in April, the promotion booked Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren in a headlining spot. Paul won the fight via first-round TKO.
