Chael Sonnen Claims He’s Considering Trying Out For 2016 Olympics

During a recent discussion with The Associated Press regarding his new job as the official MMA analyst for ESPN, former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen spoke about the possibility of trying out for the 2016 Olympics.

“I’ve considered trying out for the 2016 Olympic team in Greco-Roman wrestling,” said Sonnen. “My goals would be different. I would not make the team, but I think I could be one of the guys.”

Sonnen continued, “I could be right in there, top four or five. Give me a good opportunity to train and be active and still be a part of something while my body is still holding up.”

As far as his career as an active mixed-martial-arts competitor, the West Linn gangster claims those days are done.

“But no, I’m done with competitive mixed martial arts,” said Sonnen.
