Kevin Holland is holding true to his word about stepping in as a replacement for the Darren Till/Marvin Vettori fight.
Prior to Kevin Holland’s March 20 fight against Derek Brunson, the big-mouthed middleweight said that he would be willing to step in as a replacement for either Darren Till or Marvin Vettori in case either of the two athletes “caught syphilis.” Fortunately for Till, he did not fall victim to the venereal disease, but he does, however, have a collarbone injury that has forced him to withdraw from his April 10 main event against Marvin Vettori scheduled to air on ABC.
Shortly after the news was reported by ESPN, it was then revealed that Kevin Holland was making himself available to fill in and save the main event. Holland and his team are reportedly waiting to hear back from the Vettori camp.
Kevin Holland was unsuccessful in his bout against Brunson in a peculiar showing that had UFC President Dana White questioning if he had a mental breakdown. Holland stated that he would take some time to work on some things, but the allure of continuing his short-notice ways seems to have proven to be too much for him.
Kevin Holland is currently ranked #10 in the middleweight division, with Vettori at #6. A win over #4-ranked Darren Till was what Vettori was hoping for in his quest to secure a rematch against champion Israel Adesanya, while defeating Holland would not do nearly as much for the Italian. For this reason, it will bear watching what the Vettori camp decides to do.
With Darren Till out of the main event, the current card for the April 10 Fight Night card is as follows:
Marvin Vettori vs. TBA
Arnold Allen vs. Sodiq Yusuff
