UFC Middleweight Demian Maia, who most recently defeated Canadian Jason MacDonald at UFC 87 on August 9th, told TATAME that there is a possibility that he could be back in the Octagon in December.
“Man, they said something about fighting again this year. I prefer to fight in December, because in January it is more difficult for me to find sparring partners. I believe I will fight again in December.”
Maia holds a perfect 8-0 record and has racked up three consecutive victories against Ryan Jensen, Ed Herman, and Demian Maia since joining the UFC in October 2007.
Two out of those three fights have earned Maia Submission of the Night bonuses. His slick submission game could be a problem for many of the UFC Middleweights and with Anderson Silva looking for viable contenders, another win or two could put Maia into title contention.
