Following his first MMA fight in nearly four years, Fedor Emelianenko has announced when he will be returning to the ring in 2016.
Fedor, who dominated relatively unknown prospect Jadeep Singh via first-round TKO at the Rizin FF innagural event this week, announced his intentions to return to the ring in just over four months.
“The Last Emporer” told RSport.ru the following about his plans to immediately get back in the ring, as well as revealing possible plans for Rizin and Bellator MMA to work together in the future.
“The next fight is scheduled for April. In my opinion, it will be here in Japan, in cooperation with the company Rizin. Just know that the company is planning a tournament next August and is in talks with Bellator and other organizations. There is another chance of a joint project. For me it would be convenient to enter the ring in April.”
After his clients comeback victory in Japan this week, Fedor’s coach, Vladimir Voronov, stated the following about the announcement of his next fight.
“On Friday [Jan. 1], there will be a press conference where it will be clear when, where and with whom Fedor will fight next.”
No such press conference has been held yet, neither has any announcements been made outside of Fedor commenting about likely returning in April in Japan, as seen in the above statement he gave RSports.ru.
