Former top ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko is at a point in his career where decisions will need to be made about what weight class he should be fighting in as it has become apparent he may be too small to compete with the big boys in the heavyweight division.
There have been rumors that Fedor would drop to light heavyweight to challenge Dan Henderson for the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight title and although nothing is official yet, the Russian is open to the drop in weight and is just waiting to hear what Strikeforce has in store for him:
“Yes, I have talked about [dropping to 205] with my manager, Vadim Finklestein, but as far as I know there has been no offer made by Strike Force for me to fight as a light heavyweight,” Emelianenko explained. “It was not the size or weight advantage that caused my loss [to Silva]. Its just a fight and anything can happen. The game plan did not work out the way I wanted it to, but the weight was definitely not the reason.”
